Hello! I’m Ellen Phin, a fourth year Illustration student at Dundee University. As an Aberdeenshire-based artist, my work is rooted in the beautiful landscape around my home, particularly the corners we often overlook. I love to work with tactile media like inks, pencils, and watercolours, and I’m constantly inspired by the texture and strange little organic details of the natural world and human life. I’ve always been enamoured with the magic of picture books, and my dream is to replicate some of that magic in my own illustration and artwork.
A huge part of my practice is rooted in sketchbook work, the majority of which is done while I’m out hillwalking or exploring the woods. While I love to work with more precise and traditional pen and ink pieces, my passion has always been with the quick, in the moment mess of trying to capture the irreplicable colours of a stream or the mad dash of a pheasant.
I hope you enjoy my work, and thank you so much for checking out my portfolio!
